Obama Flip?

Here we go again. It’s all over the news, thought some might want to look at the full transcript on the Drudge report below and little green footballs take on it. Nuff said.

The Drudge Report has the transcript of Barack Obama’s speech, and it was just as weak as you thought it would be. See the Video there by clicking their link.

Amazingly, Obama is sticking with the “cherry-picking” defense.

I have already condemned, in unequivocal terms, the statements of Reverend Wright that have caused such controversy. For some, nagging questions remain. Did I know him to be an occasionally fierce critic of American domestic and foreign policy? Of course. Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes. Did I strongly disagree with many of his political views? Absolutely – just as I’m sure many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests, or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed.

Joe Horn and the New Black Panthers

Joe Horn

GLENN BECK PROGRAM
BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

GLENN: Now, in Pasadena, just a suburb outside of Houston, there is a guy named Joe Horn. I’ve talked about him on the air before and everything I have heard about Joe Horn is that he’s a decent human being, that he’s a good guy. All of his neighbors say he’s like the grandfather of the neighborhood. There is a law in Houston where a guy can protect his own property. You come onto his property; he can shoot you. Well, a friend said, would you watch my house. He was watching the house. Two guys crawl out of a back window. First he sees him crawl in. He calls the cops and they say, they’re on their way, they’re on their way. Well, the people are inside and he’s on the phone saying, okay, guys, where are they? Come on, where are they? “They’re on their way, sir.” He sees them start getting out of the house and he says, “They’ve got a bag of stuff from my friend’s house. I’m not going to let them get away with it. I’ve got a gun.” And the 911 operator says, “Please, sir, don’t do that, don’t go out and do it, you’ll get yourself killed.” And he said, “I’m not going to get killed; I’ll kill them.” Well, that’s exactly what he did. He went out and killed the two. Now, not even sure if Mr. Horn is going to be charged with anything because it appears what he did was legal. I don’t think it’s necessarily the smart thing to do and I was disturbed, as I told you the first time I heard the 911 call. Do we have that 911 call, Dan, handy? I want to play a little bit of it and then I want to give you the update on what happened over the weekend.

The new Black Panthers came to town in Houston to Joe Horn’s neighborhood and they tried to hold a press conference, but some of the good people in Houston didn’t take too kindly to that and there is new video out that I’m going to send to Chris Brady that you are probably not going to see on mainstream television because they don’t want to show you this stuff unless they make it in a way to where, look at all the white racists coming out against these peaceful peace-loving Black Panthers. They probably haven’t found a way to spin it that way yet, but they will.

Joe Horn Protest Video
This is some AMAZING raw footage of a huge protest in Pasadena…Joe Horn’s neighborhood…the guy who shot the burglars at his neighbors house. Click for the story and video…

So I’m going to put the video up on the website here in just a second at GlennBeck.com but first let me refresh your memory on the 911 call with Joe Horn.(911 tape playing.).GLENN: There it is. Can you go back to when he says, you hear the shotgun clicking? I’ve wanted to say this for a while and I always keep forgetting. Bring me back to that and listen to the 911 operator. Go ahead. Play it again.(911 tape playing).GLENN: Stop. Does anybody else — does the guy from 911 like, I’m going outside, I don’t know, please, stop. No, don’t do that. Whoa. Slow down. I mean, it’s not like he’s really trying to stop the guy. It’s just like, don’t go outside. You’d think he would have a little bit more passion there. All right, let me go to Pat Gray who does mornings on KSEV, our affiliate in Houston, Texas. Pat.                                                                                                            GRAY: Glenn.GLENN: Pat?GRAY: Again.

GLENN: How are you?

GRAY: I’m good. How are you?

GLENN: Good. I told you the first day this happened, I asked you and you confirmed. Do you see Joe Horn as a rallying point for the disenfranchised in Texas? My theory or my thesis is America needs to pay attention to Texas because Texas is way ahead of the rest of the country.

GRAY: Yes.

GLENN: And as Texas goes, the rest of the country will go.

GRAY: I think we got a taste of that yesterday.

GLENN: Okay. Tell me about it.

GRAY: Well, Quanell X, who is our local Jesse Jackson, showed up in the neighborhood to —

GLENN: How do you mean that? Hang on just a second. How do you mean he’s your local Jesse Jackson?

GRAY: Anytime there is an incident involving a black person, Quanell X is there to start screaming racism. Quanell X is always there to claim that police have tased or shot or did something wrong. Doesn’t matter the racial background of the police or whatever happened with the incident. It’s always something being done against a black person and their benefit, just like Jesse Jackson is. And he was there with his new black party, Black Panther party members and they are always, at least to my experience, heavily armed to the teeth. I’ve had the guy in my studio before and he wouldn’t come in without his bodyguards, you know, like I’m real threatening. He wouldn’t come in without his armed bodyguards. They are always there to intimidate and in fact, sometimes they are carrying shotguns out in the open when they show up at these kinds of events. They weren’t —

GLENN: How is that even — wait a minute. How is that even possible?

GRAY: I don’t know.

GLENN: Hold on just a second. Hold on just a second. Are they police officers?

GRAY: No, no.

GLENN: You know, I don’t know. Maybe they’re sheriffs or something.

GRAY: I just think — you know, maybe it’s something —

GLENN: Hold on. Hold on just a sec. Let me ask Adam because he knows this kind of stuff. Security, if I wanted to hire private security, okay, to carry shotguns out in the open with me everywhere I go, could I get away with that? License, with what kind of license? State — for what? What kind of a license, though? He said they have to be licensed, licensed security by the State of Texas, they would have to have that if Texas even has that. You should look into that, Pat.

GRAY: I will.

GLENN: Find out what kind of law allows — you cannot carry weapons open. That is — I mean, that is a — you know, that’s brandishing a firearm.

GRAY: Well, isn’t that why they call it a concealed weapons permit?

GLENN: Yes.

GRAY: You are supposed to conceal it, right?

GLENN: Up in some states like Connecticut, if you even allow the imprint of the gun, if you are carrying a gun and it’s, you know, in your back or on your side or on your person or whatever, if you even see the imprint of the gun, if you can see just a little bit of the outline of the gun, you can actually get nailed for brandishing a firearm.

GRAY: Yeah.

GLENN: Because they say just that is threatening. So check the state laws and find out how exactly he gets away with people brandishing shotguns.

GRAY: Yeah, but just to give you a little background on these guys, they’ve showed up at city council, interrupted city council meetings that have had nothing to do with any sort of racial issue and have demanded reparations for blacks. I mean, this is the stuff that they do all the time. They’ve showed up as city councilmembers who don’t support reparations and protested outside their homes on Sunday afternoons and tried to intimidate. And yesterday they showed up in this neighborhood and tried to intimidate Joe Horn, and they actually announced initially that they were going to do it today because they knew people had jobs and wouldn’t be there. And then they changed it to yesterday for whatever reason and so about 300 to 500 right-thinking Americans showed up to support Joe Horn who —

GLENN: Now, this is in his neighborhood? Is this in front of his house?

GRAY: This is in front of his, right in front of his house.

GLENN: Okay, because it — I see the video and we’re going to post this now on GlennBeck.com. It will be right on the front page of GlennBeck.com in a few minutes. But we’re posting this video which, it looks like a very nice neighborhood. Let me ask you this question. I have not seen this video anywhere. Is it being shown locally in Houston?

GRAY: No, I got this from listeners who were there. So I haven’t seen it anywhere but my listeners sending it to me.

GLENN: Okay. I see video cameras. I see TV cameras there in the video that I have.

GRAY: Yeah.

GLENN: I see video cameras for TV stations but I have not seen this footage on television anywhere.

GRAY: Well, what they showed on TV was Quanell ranting and raving about, you know, this being a racial issue and that he didn’t — he wasn’t sure it was a racial issue but now he wouldn’t be surprised because of the people who showed up. And from what I’ve heard from people who were actually there, most of them told me that there was no — there were no racial slurs, but I got a contrasting point of view from somebody who was there and who said he stood next to Quanell X for about 30 minutes yesterday and he did hear some racial slurs, which is really unfortunate and really ruins the message because the message was mostly about America. If you hear him chanting, it’s usually USA or maybe “Go home”, you know, to Quanell but they were there to support American rights, and in America and in Texas people, we think, have the right to do what Joe Horn did and we’ll find out more about that tomorrow to see whether the grand jury indicts him or not.

END TRANSCRIPT

Wow, the video is in its entireity. Not just an edited blip. Consensus seems to be that these Texans are tired of good men standing by and doing nothing about the bad guys..The BP were not expecitng over 100 bikers and neighbors of Joe Horn to be there when they (the Panthers) were going to do a Media Blitz on Joe Horn’s door step. So if you are like me, I did not see this on the Media,IT MAY HAVE BEEN but I  guarantee I would have seen it if the Panthers had had their speech. They could not get on the soap box with so many shouts of USA.  Again, Don’t know enough about Joe Horn, motives not even saying that he was right, but I do know people are fed up!!

Teddy Bear Blues

UK teacher jailed over teddy row

Gillian Gibbons

Britain said the incident was an ‘innocent misunderstanding’

Bishop’s reaction

A British teacher has been found guilty in Sudan of insulting religion after she allowed her primary school class to name a teddy bear Muhammad. Gillian Gibbons, 54, from Liverpool, has been sentenced to 15 days in prison and will then be deported.

She escaped conviction for inciting hatred and showing contempt for religious beliefs, and will now appeal.

Foreign Secretary David Miliband has expressed “in the strongest terms” the UK’s concern at her detention.

The Sudanese ambassador, Omer Siddiq, was called back to the Foreign Office to explain the decision.

Officials said that during his 45-minute meeting Mr Miliband also spoke to the Sudanese acting foreign minister for 15 minutes on the telephone.

“There will be further contacts overnight and tomorrow in the search for a swift resolution of this issue,” the Foreign Office added.

I have called in the Sudanese ambassador this evening to explain the decision and to discuss next steps

Foreign Secretary David Miliband

Reaction to verdict

Before the meeting, Mr Miliband said he was “extremely disappointed” the charges had not been dismissed and repeated his view that it had been an “innocent misunderstanding by a dedicated teacher”.

“Our priority now is to ensure Mrs Gibbons’ welfare, and we will continue to provide consular assistance to her,” he said.

“I have called in the Sudanese ambassador this evening to explain the decision and to discuss next steps.”

Staff complaint

Officials at the Foreign Office say the mood has changed as a result of the verdict.

The prime minister, Sudanese embassy officials in London and UK Muslim organisations all expressed the hope that Mrs Gibbons would be released.

But Sudan’s top clerics had called for the full measure of the law to be used against Mrs Gibbons and labelled her actions part of a Western plot against Islam.

She could have faced up to 40 lashes if found guilty on all three charges against her.

In September, Mrs Gibbons allowed her class of primary school pupils to name the teddy bear Muhammad as part of a study of animals and their habitats.

A teddy bear on sale in Sudan

What can’t be named Muhammad?

British teacher Gillian Gibbons has been jailed for 15 days after insulting Islam’s Prophet by allowing her pupils in Sudan to name a teddy bear Muhammad. What are the rules on using the name?

The Arabic name Muhammad is now the second most popular name for baby boys in Britain, adding together its 14 different spellings in English.

Muslim families – of which there are an increasing number in the UK – often choose names which honour the Prophet or show a link to their religion in another way.

THE ANSWER

Opinion is divided

Some say Muhammad can only be given to boys, others are less strict

But is it acceptable to name a toy Muhammad? The arrest and subsequent jailing of Ms Gibbons has sparked debate in Islamic circles. As is the case in so many religious matters, the question is open to interpretation.

The court heard that she was arrested on Sunday after another member of staff at Unity High School complained to the Ministry of Education.

The BBC’s Adam Mynott, in Khartoum, said Mrs Gibbons apologised to the court for any offence she may have caused.

The school’s director, Robert Boulos, told the AP news agency: “It’s a very fair verdict, she could have had six months and lashes and a fine, and she only got 15 days and deportation.”

He said Mrs Gibbons would only serve another 10 days in prison, having already spent five in custody since her arrest.

Prosecutor general Salah Eddin Abu Zaid had said Mrs Gibbons could expect a “swift and fair trial”.

But Catherine Wolthuizen, chief executive of Fair Trials International, said Mrs Gibbons’ treatment was excessive.

She said: “It was a very speedy justice process. Although she has been found guilty of all the counts of causing offence, she has thankfully not been subjected to 40 lashes.

“Having said this, 15 days in a Sudanese prison for an innocent misunderstanding is a serious and harsh punishment indeed.”

But Adel Darwish, the political editor of The Middle East magazine, says that Muslim children – “like children everywhere” – give their pets the names of characters they liked, be it a religious figure, sports hero or pop singer.

WHO, WHAT, WHY?

Graphic

A regular part of the BBC News Magazine, Who, What, Why? aims to answer some of the questions behind the headlines

“Millions of Muslim children in Muslim nations give their dolls, pets and teddies Muslim names of the Prophet and his mother, daughters and wives.”

Gill Lusk, the associate editor of Africa Confidential and a specialist on Sudan, says the incident will have offended many in the country. As Sudan is a place where religion is never mocked or satirised, it’s “unthinkable” that a toy or pet could be given a religious name.

Taken from BBC news.

As one who taught Kindergarten in the past, I can see how this teacher let the children name the teddy bear. I can also see how we really need to know what is acceptable and not acceptable in another country. Just so glad she is not getting 40 lashes, due probably to the outrage expressed worldwide. I am also very thankful for our freedoms here in the U.S. flawed as it is, it beats oppression and 40 lashes.

Obama/Drugs/Alcohol

Well the great debate is now on whether or not Obama should have fessed up to the students, what do you think? Is he encouraging them to think (as some have said) that they can do as he did and someday run for President? Or is it better for relating to them as some have said? Here’s the rest of the story:

Obama: Yes, I inhaled—that was the point

Obama has discussed his past drug use on the campaign trail.

AUDUBON, Iowa (CNN) — Earlier this week in New Hampshire Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama spoke candidly about his past experimentation with drugs and alcohol in high school, and on Saturday—after a question on medicinal marijuana—Obama was prodded a bit further and asked whether or not he had ever inhaled.

“I did,” the senator from Illinois said to light applause. “It’s not something I’m proud of. It was a mistake as a young man.”

The question was a reference to a line made famous by former President Bill Clinton who, while admitting to trying marijuana, said he did not inhale.

“I never understood that line,” Obama continued. “The point was to inhale. That was the point.”

On the campaign trail on Saturday, GOP White House hopeful Mitt Romney said Obama’s earlier comments set a bad example for young people.

“I agree with the sentiment that nobody’s perfect and most of us, if not all of us, in our youthful years have engaged in various indiscretions we wouldn’t want to have paraded in the front of a newspaper,” the former Massachusetts governor said in New Hampshire. “On the other hand if we’re running for president, I think it’s important for us not to go into details about the weaknesses and our own failings as young people for the concern that we open kids thinking that it’s ok for them.”

On the issue of medicinal marijuana, Obama said that if the “best way to relieve pain and suffering is through medicinal marijuana,” then it’s something he’s open to.

He added it would concern him much more if people were allowed to grow their own to use whenever they were simply “feeling really tense” and “needed a joint.”

E.U. Upset with China

Well, it seems that the powerful E.U. is now more than a little upset with China over the surging value of the Euro. Can you not see how they feel? After all, it makes for unfair trade. So they are going on record now as the U.S. has been doing for awhile now..about time someone joined us..oh well, here is the rest of the story:

By William Schomberg

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – Top European Union officials will talk tough in Beijing next week about China’s snowballing trade surplus and its reluctance to open its booming economy further to European business.

The EU has long taken a softer approach to China than the United States. Washington has sued Beijing more often at the World Trade Organization and protested more loudly about China’s currency, which is widely seen as undervalued to help exporters.

But EU officials, alarmed at the surge in the value of the euro, now cite the yuan as their main currency concern and say that while China’s trade surplus with the 27-nation bloc is billowing, EU exporters face barriers to the Chinese market.
In an unprecedented move, EU monetary officials, including the head of the European Central Bank, will urge China on Tuesday in Beijing to speed up strengthening the yuan’s value, echoing French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s call on Saturday.

On Wednesday, at an EU-China summit, European trade chief Peter Mandelson will warn Beijing it must make a “major change” on investment restrictions, red-tape barriers for EU companies, and counterfeiting, or risk tougher action by Brussels.

“We do not intend to turn away from dialogue and cooperation. What we will do is treat China as a normal trading partner in the future, especially by enforcing rules where necessary,” Mandelson said in a statement on Friday.

From almost no trade 20 years ago, the EU recently overtook the United States as the biggest export market for China.

China joined the WTO in 2001 and was given time to adapt to its rules. But with its EU trade surplus heading for 170 billion euros ($252 billion) this year, according to EU estimates, a near 30 percent rise on 2006, European patience is wearing thin.

TWO-FRONT TRADE WAR?

As well as more access for its companies, the EU wants China to chop myriad incentives to export-based investment and do more to encourage local spending and stimulate demand for imports.

In a sign of the changing mood in Brussels, discussions about when to award China the EU’s Market Economy Status — coveted by China because it would reduce the risk of its exporters being hit by anti-dumping duties — have gone quiet.

By contrast, Mandelson has suggested he could soon press ahead with an anti-dumping investigation into imports of Chinese steel after complaints by European industry, an apparent shift from his previously more hands-off approach to Chinese imports.

Litigation at the WTO is also under consideration.

“China cannot afford to fight a two-front trade war with both the United States and EU at the same time, said Cheng Xiaohe at the People’s University of China in Beijing.

EU trade officials stress change will be gradual. But some note that when China wants action, it can happen quickly, citing what they say is an apparent scarcity of counterfeited goods relating to the Chinese Olympics on the streets of China.

“Perhaps if you want to reinforce (anti-piracy), you can,” said David O’Sullivan, the EU’s top civil servant for trade.

For its part, China plans to ask the EU to abolish restrictions on high-tech exports to China, Wang Xinpei, a spokesman with the Ministry of Commerce, said last week.

The ban on technology that could have military uses was imposed after China’s army crushed pro-democracy protests in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square in 1989.

North American Union?

Has anybody read  “The True Story of the Bilderberg Group.”  ‘The true story of the Bilderburg group’ authored by Daniel Estulin?

I first heard about it on Glenn Beck program and now have read about it on  the Christian News Bulletin. It is disturbing to say the least, It is about the integration of the U.S.,Canada and Mexico. A merger if you will. There is a link on my blogroll where you can read an article  on Christian News, also above on CNB and a link above on Estulin.

It would seem according to the author, that a North American Union has been in the works for years, He is not the only one to investigate this,  Jerome Corsi author of the Best Seller ‘The late Great U.S.A.’

They see our current Presidential race as somewhat of a farce. According to Estulin, unless you are a member of the Bilderburg group or Council of Foreign Relations, or the Trilateral Commission, you don’t have a prayer. Estulin guarantees Rudy G. will not be nominated. “Does it really matter who wins?” he asks. “As I make very clear in ‘The True Story of the Bilderberg Group,’ every politician of note and promise belongs to the Bilderbergers, CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) or the Trilateral Commission.

There is so much more, go to the link and see what you think, the title of the post is: ‘North American Union, a few years away.’  It would seem that the EU. is a model with their organization and currency. ‘

Money and Power seems (if true) what it’s all about. I find it deeply disturbing as I said earlier and I intend to purchase the books and find out for myself as much as I possibly can. The U.S. Canada, and Mexico as one? I find this hard to imagine Canada giving up their independence. Much less the rest of us. Maybe so…..then again Biblical Scholars have long said we would one day be One World.

Anybody out there know anything about this ?

Angie Paraphrasing the news

Bhutto, who recently returned to Pakistan from her self exile and a deal with the reigning General Musharraf regime is all over the news and press. Ms Bhutto is a strange one to speak favorably toward democracy, legality and constitutions. She is now against the good ole General that as named above made a deal with her. Can’t help but wonder if it is because he oversaw an amendment to Pakistan’s constitution that would prevent Prime Ministers from serving more than two terms…Oh my, that would disqualify her immediately from holding that office again. So what does a girl do? Uhmmm..call for mass demonstrations, vilify Musharraff, seek to amend the Constitution to serve her interests.

She has been called “one of the most incompetent leaders in the history of South Asia” by Arthur Herman, a U.S. historian. We could go on and on about the corruption of her regime, it has been said that she oversaw one of the most corrupt regimes in that nation’s history and really, this is a nation where corruption is part of daily life. Bhutto and her husband still face allegations of theft concerning hundreds of millions of dollars of “commissions” on government contracts and tenders. I am going to leave it here, you can find tons of information on Bhutto from the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, among others. One Kos Blogger notes her record and the connection with Mark Penn, Senator Clintons chief strategist and pollster has forged with the front runner for Democratic candidate. Strange bedfellows….

Pakistan is of extreme importance to to all of us. We can only hope that it will be a stable country for the world. As for now as we all have read, Musharraf has imposed Martial law.

More quick brain candy, the Writers guild and stage hands are engaging in mediation with their employer counterparts. With that news, I must confess I don’t understand why they do not get pretty much what they want. Surely they realize that without the aforementioned there can be no content, to which I say ‘give them the money honey’! Some things are just ‘no brainers’.

How about the Democrat debate? Just wish there had been more questions for them. Did enjoy listening to it. Most of the press says Hillary won,  Edwards got weaker, Obama flubbed. Hillary just said no this time to granting drivers license to illegals. Biden had humor, Dodd stayed true to form. What’s that other guys name? He didn’t pander to the right that’s for sure. Or the middle for that matter, in fact he probably (what’s his name) only got the attention of the extreme left..surely no way to win a nomination.  Just saying.

The Republican contenders (some) are fixating on illegals and the border.

My take on all of the contenders, Democrat and Republican, are there no statesmen left? I feel all of them will say and/or do anything if they feel it will get the vote. I have nothing against lawyers, we gotta have them. Could be and is an honorable profession, but have you not noticed all are either lawyers or former lawyers? I do have tremendous respect for John McCain, at least he has earned the right to his views and I haven’t seen him being wishy washy…. Just saying…….

Let’s not forget how our troops were treated in Washington State this week by Anti War Protesters: concrete poured over the tracks, yada yada, they were just trying to get home from the war. By the way, they are the ones that fight for our right to protest. I say, go protest somewhere else, leave the vets alone. You did the same thing last year when they were trying to go, I am sure you left them with a good frame of mind before they left. They were just trying to get home this time. As far as I am concerned, you rate up there with the ones that protest the funerals of the fallen. Need I say more?

Of course, you got the Cop whose 4th wife is missing, his third wife has been exhumed to findings of Homicide.

Then the 13 year old little girl prone to depression from O’Fallon Illinois that committed suicide after an adult neighbor posed as a teen boy, befriended her on My Space and then dissed her on public boards.  Deeply saddened to think an adult would behave in such a manner or anyone for that matter. Tragedy for all.

How about the brain candy this week with Barry Bonds? If he did take enhancement drugs, my take is he would have been much better off fessing up!  My take on all the athletes taking such enhancements is just this: You cannot be compared to the Hank Aarons of the world. It would be like comparing apples to oranges, Just saying….

Would love to hear your take on the weeks happenings.
