Emilio T. Gonzalez, the incompetent head of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services–the agency that spends less than 6 minutes reviewing each request for green cards and citizenship–has resigned.
Gonzalez, as you’ll recall, is the guy who gave himself an award he created for “Outstanding American By Choice” (an award that illegally discriminates against Americans on the basis of national original because if you are a natural born citizen, you couldn’t receive it). Imagine that folks, Plain ole Americans being discriminated against! Whoo Hoo, what else is new?
He’s also the guy who sicced federal agents on his former Director of Security Michael Maxwell, for daring to speak out against lax scrutiny of aliens seeking entry to and citizenship in our country. Of course we dare not speak out against any laxity in regards to scrutiny with aliens. Is that word politically correct anymore? Seems I heard some did not like it.
And he’s the guy who fired USCIS contractor Sultan Farakhan for decrying the fact that he (and all USCIS employees at the time) as not allowed to check immigration applicants against terrorism databases. Well sure, didnt ya know we need lots of terroists here in the good ole U.S of A.! Good way to lose your job is to make any noise about it. Don’t ya know we don’t want to be accused of profiling?
Oh, and Gonzalez gave monetary bonuses to employees for speeding through (and approving) immigration applications.Well, kinda sounds like HMO’s to me, only instead of deny deny just ya, si, and yes yes, and you will get a bonus my little sheepies, Just don’t bah bah on the way out!
Chertoff and Gonzalez (center) Give Self-Chosen Award to Gonzalez
Gosh, I was taught it was bad form to Recognize yourself this way, let the others brag on, at least that’s what my mama said..
At least one USCIS employee whom I respect disagrees with me, though, in applauding Gonzalez’s departure. The employee points out that Bush will simply nominate another incompetent to fill the job for the remainder of his last year in office, and that Gonzalez was a nice, if ignorant person (ignorance is bliss). The employee tells me that it’s better to have a nice incompetent than a creepy, vindictive incompetent (like Julie L. Myers and John Torres at ICE) running the agency. Because, after all, the USCIS employee tells me,
The whole entity is terminal and beyond repair.
Yup, that’s how bad things are. Good employees have given up on the system working. They’re at the point where they will merely settle for a nice guy idiot over a bad guy idiot.
Good luck, America.
Here is Gonzalez’s resignation missive:
To: USCIS EmployeesFrom: USCIS Director Emilio T. Gonzalez
Date: March 13, 2008
Dear Friends and Colleagues:
I have recently informed the White House and Secretary Chertoff of my decision to resign as Director, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services effective April 18, 2008.
This was an extremely difficult decision for me but one that I had to make. Since 1999, due to my professional commitments and requirements, I have led a part-time family life. The time has now come for me to return to being a full-time husband and father. After taking my family on a well-deserved vacation, I will pursue other opportunities in south Florida.
I am very proud of the many accomplishments achieved by USCIS over the past two years. Those accomplishments are the result of the tireless energy and dedication of our 17,000 government employees and
contractors. Together we have taken this agency to new heights. Your commitment to the security of the United States is unparalleled and I am honored to have served as your Director.
I will continue to lead USCIS until my final day in office. In the meantime, I look forward to thanking as many of you as possible for your service, support and friendship.
May God bless you and your families and may God continue to bless the United States of America.
Emilio T. Gonzalez
Nice letter. Too bad it doesn’t reflect the two years of increased corrosion of our borders and national security under Gonzalez’s lackluster “leadership”.
All of the extremist Muslims–many with ties to terrorists–that got green cards or citizenship during the last two years, blame Gonzalez for those.
